Natural Bridges are formed when streams erode away soft rock that exists
underneath resistant rock layers.
The major difference between a natural bridge and a natural arch is
the way that each is formed. A natural bridge is the result of running
water that creates a valley beneath hard, resistant rock. A natural
arch is created when wind, ice, and water creates a hole through a thin
wall or fin of rock. Water is a factor in both processes. The difference
is that water simply speeds up the process of creating arches, while
it is entirely responsible for creating bridges.
