Hydrolab’s Hydroprobe

How to Calibrate the Hydroprobe:

A. pH
1. Link the Probe to the computer via connecting cables.
2. Unscrew the cup and dump out the water.
3. Fill the cup half way with "pH 7 RINSE".
4. Screw the cup onto the probe
5. Shake the probe so that the solution is washing the pH electrode within the probe.
6. Unscrew the cup from the probe and empty the pH 7 RINSE
7. Add pure pH 7 solution _ cup full and screw the cup onto the probe
8. Clamp probe upright onto lab stand
9. On the computer, enter "C" for calibrate
10. Enter "P" for pH.
11. Enter "7.00" for the value.
12. Wait till the computer processes the readings and narrows in on precisely 7.00. This might take a while and you may hit the space bar to continue the process.
13. When the computer reads 7.00, hit ENTER.
14. Unscrew the cup from the probe and empty contents into the pH 7 RINSE container.
15. Rinse out the cup with deionized water and dry.
16. Repeat steps 3-15, but using pH 10
17. Fill cup with deionized water and screw onto the probe for storage.

B. CONDUCTIVITY
1. Unscrew cup from the probe and empty out the water.
2. Add 2M KCL CONDUCTIVITY SOLUTION _ full into cup and screw onto probe
3. Clamp probe upright onto lab stand
4. On the computer, enter "C" for calibrate
5. Enter "C" for conductivity
6. Enter "293.00" for the value, the hit ENTER
7. Wait till the computer processes the readings and narrows in on precisely 293.00. This might take a while and you may hit the space bar to continue the process.
8. Unscrew the cup from the probe and empty contents
9. Rinse out the cup with deionized water and dry.
10. I f you are done calibrating for the day, fill cup with deionized water and screw onto the probe for storage.

C. DISSOLVED OXYGEN
1. Unscrew cup from the probe and empty out the water.
2. Clamp probe upright onto lab stand. Make sure the cup end is on top and the prong end is on the bottom
3. Place the hallow cup onto the top end of the probe.
4. Fill the hallow cup up with deionized water to the top of the DO’s membrane head. You should see the surface tension of the water surround the membrane, but never covering the membrane. Do not shake or disturb the probe.
5. Carefully place the black rubber plate n top on the hallow cup
6. On the computer, enter "C" for calibrate
7. Enter "S" for specific conductivity
8. Enter barometric pressure
9. Enter 8.24 (dependent on the temperature….see manual’s chart for exact value) for the value of DO (mg/L).
10. Wait till the computer processes the readings and narrows in on precisely 8.24. This might take a while and you may hit the space bar to continue the process.
11. Remove the hallow cup and the rubber top from the probe and empty contents
12. Rinse out the cup with deionized water and dry.
13. I f you are done calibrating for the day, fill cup with deionized water and screw onto the probe for storage.

Hydrolab-Hydroprobe Testing How to Insert batteries into the SCOUT:
1. Remove the rubber protective cover
2. Unscrew the bottom 4 screws with a screwdriver
3. Insert 10 AA batteries
4. Rescrew the SCOUT togetherHow to Insert Batteries into the Hydroprobe:
1. Unscrew the 2 screws near the bottom (prong side) of the probe using a 6-sided screwdriver (9/64").
2. Once inside the probe, unscrew 2 screws using a 6-sided screwdriver (3/16""
3. Insert 10 AA batteries.
4. Align the side holes with the pin and rescrew the 2 inside screws
5. Wins the wires around the center within the probe
6. Align the outside holes of the outer 2 parts of the probe and insert 2 screws and rescrew.

How to Collect Data:
1. Link connecting cable (black) to the probe’s prong and onto the SCOUT.
2. Unscrew the cup from the probe
3. Screw the STIRRER onto the probe
4. Link STIRRER’S cable to probe’s cable (blue)
5. Gently place probe into the stream
6. Turn the SCOUT on
7. Hit SCREEN ESCAPE to see more information it will collect (ie..TURBIDITY)
8. Record data
9. Press ENTER twice to log data
10. Hit ENTER one last time to store the data into the SCOUT.
11. Turn off power
