There are five processes key to remote sensing.
A
First, electromagnetic radiation leaves the sun.
B
That electromagnetic energy strikes the surface of the earth, interacting with materials and reflecting back toward the atmosphere.
C
A satellite detects the distant, reflected radiation and records the data.
D
A computer processes the data collected by the satellite and generates an image.
E
That image is analyzed, classified, and interpreted by scientists and computers.
