Carefully look at the image on the screen.

Can you identify the object?

Now think about how you came to your conclusion.

What information did you use to determine the image was a strawberry? Color? Texture? A unique pattern?

You identified the strawberry without having any contact with it. You didn’t feel it or taste it; you simply looked at an image of one.

This is the basis of remote sensing; measuring or gathering information about an object or a phenomenon without having physical contact with the object.
