Separate Spheres – Not Necessarily...

The spheres are not necessarily separated from each other. Sometimes, all of Earth’s spheres can be present in the same location near the Earth’s surface. Let’s think about soil.

Soil is composed of mineral material.
That’s the lithosphere.

There is probably some water in the soil.
That’s the hydrosphere.

There are insects and worms living in the soil.
That’s the biosphere.

Believe it or not, there are even pockets of air in the soil.
That’s the atmosphere!
