Another place that wind forms is along mountain valleys, where cool air from the mountain tops, moves down along valleys into the lowlands below, making "catabatic winds" (see image below) which can be very strong and steady.
Wind can also build up when there is nothing standing in its way, such as mountains or tall buildings in a city.
