Holgate

In spite of the small groin designed to preserve this section of the beach, waves have carved out a shallow harbor behind it.

The southern tip of the island is part of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. It is federal land and unavailable for development. It is closed to the public during the summer to protect nesting birds and other wildlife.
